From the Feed Me Better website: "Jamie's School Dinners is all about making radical change to the
school meals system and challenging the junk food culture by showing
schools can serve fresh nutritious meals that kids enjoy eating."
"Vegetarians who
don't cook their food have abnormally low bone mass, usually a sign of
osteoporosis and increased fracture risk. But a research team at
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis also found that
raw food vegetarians have other biological markers indicating their
bones, although light in weight, may be healthy."
The average BMI of the rawfoodist in this study was 20.5, compared to an average of 25 for individuals eating a standard American diet. What does this mean? For a man 5 foot 8 inches tall20.5 BMI would mean that he is 135 pounds. And if this same man had a BMI of 25, he'd weigh 164.5 pounds.
Pure Food & Wine's new private kitchen, Pure Kitchen, is open for business. Next month owners Matthew Kenney & Sarma Melngailis will be rolling out with a full line of rawfood preparatory classes featuring:
"Signature dishes, unique creations and organic wines in a relaxed and comfortable environment."
Each classes costs $95.00 and runs for about 3 hours. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon or a Thursday evening.
The intended goal is to educated consumers on the importance of having legislation that makes all drug studies available to the public. Currently drug companies are very selective in what studies they deem "beneficial" to be released.
Petition via Consumer Union Website:
"I am urging you toimprove the safety and effectiveness of the
prescription drugsmy family and I take each day by passing legislation
creating a mandatory clinical drug trial registry and results database
and an independent Office of Drug Safety."
Going one step above this whole prescriptions debate, the real question is, "What would it mean to improve the safety and effectiveness of prescription drugs?" Are prescription drugs inherently ineffective?
