Raw-food Gems are popping-up all around the country. Part of the fun in eating a raw-food diet is discovering these, sometimes, hidden treasures.
One of our favorite gems is a little place in Philadelphia called Kind Cafe.
Kind Cafe serves both raw-vegan and cooked-vegan dishes. This makes it an ideal location for both raw-food enthusiast and individuals who are just beginning's to explore healthier ways of eating.
Raw-foods is not just a diet, but a life style. When you begin cleaning your internal world, both physically & mentally, naturally the next step is cleaning up your external world.
TreeHugger is your guide to creating that external world:
"TreeHugger is the definitive, modern yet green lifestyle filter. It will help you improve your course, yet still maintain your aesthetic."
Directions Place water, tomatoes, spices in a blender and blend until smooth. Add peppers, onion, celery mix and enjoy.
*In full disclosure, Rawlifeline and Chef Joel Odhner are not only good friends of We Like It Raw, but they are also clients of our parent group, Dharmaboost.
We Like It Raw is an "information brokerage" for conversations revolving around the world of raw-foods. We filter and bring you our version of the "raw-food story".
Community message boards are also another great source for like minded stories. If you are looking for support in your approach to a raw-food diet, we recommend the following boards:
Whole Food's flagship store in Austin, Texas just recently launched a "Living Foods Bar" aka "Raw Bar". The bar features both fresh meals and packaged items that are prepared at temperatures below 118 degrees Fahrenheit.
"At age 20, Paul Nison was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (also know as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), a deadly affliction.
His search for a cure began with medical doctors, but they didn't have the answers he needed. After trying almost every so-called cure to overcome his pain and suffering, Paul finally discovered the benefits of eating more simply. He started by getting rid of foods that were no good for him. Simplifying his diet was the first step in his cure."

Getting started on the raw-food diet is about learning how to become internally "juicy". Why juicy? Cooked and highly processed foods are dry and dead. If you are what you eat, what does that make you?

It's time to go beyond what you think you know about "sustainability".
Time to go beyond eco-footprints, beyond recycling, beyond stricter
environmental regulations, and beyond an anti-business mentality. Why? Three words: Growth Is Good!
Say good-bye to Sustainability and hello to Eco-Effectiveness,
an approach based on abundance and nature where: 1) growth is good, 2)
effectiveness is more important than efficiency & 3) Waste = food.
WM:Yes, if you use nature as a model and mentor, if you use modern designs
and chemicals that are safe. Growth is destructive if you use energy
not from the sun and a system of chemicals that is toxic, so it's
anti-life."
NW: "Given that industry today fits your definition of anti-life, why aren't you fighting for stricter environmental regulations?"
WM: "If coal plants release mercury—and mercury is a neurotoxin that damages children's brains—then reducing the amount of mercury in emissions doesn't stop that. It just says, "We'll tell you at what rate you can dispense death." Being less bad is not being good. Our idea is to make production so clean, there's nothing bad left to regulate. This is extremely interesting to people of all political persuasions—those who love the environment and those who want commerce free of regulation."
