I was talking to my buddy Chef Joel Odhner, over at rawlifeline.com, about some of his favorite raw food tips. Something that he repeatedly tells people who attend his retreats and or classes. He was kind enough to share this with me.
A lot of newbies to the raw food diet get really excited about food preparation, but are often confused about what equipment is best for them. Which dehydrator, juicer and food processor should they get? What's best for them and will their current equipment do? I say, "Use it till you break it!" Start with what you have, in terms of equipment, and then move from there. I can't tell you how often I've seen enthusiastic beginners go out and get all the latest equipment only to have it collecting dust in their basement because 1) they are either overwhelmed or 2) they hadn't learned the basics. If you've only got a food processor and blender start with that, and use it till your break it! Then you'll know you are ready for the next step.
The one exception, possibly, would be a juicer. If you have one use it, but if you don't, it could be worth grabbing one and integrating it into your daily routine. Get something cheap and effective to start though. I'm sure We Like It Raw could help out with a good recommendation.
