Talk Show Host Montel Williams uses raw food diet to heal MS

Montelwilliamsrawfood In an article on pr.com, celebrity talk show host and Daytime Emmy award-winner, Montel Williams, revealed that his raw food / whole food diet has be a key factor in his emotional, mental and physical transformation.

"It's amazing how good I have been feeling."

Montel also commented that his recent dietary shifts have significantly healed his MS.

"I've been able to mitigate a few of the symptoms that I have or at least lessen their severity. I think the more I stay with this and the cleaner I get, the better and better I'll be."

Montel was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in 1999 and has since started the The Montel William MS Foundation. The organization is "dedicated to furthering the scientific study of multiple sclerosis."

Montel looks like he maybe writing a book about the entire experience it too! Score one for the veggies!

PR.com: How are you feeling these days… physically, emotionally or otherwise?

Montel Williams: I guess that is in reference to the fact that most of your readers will know, of course I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and I've been dealing with this for about seven years. It is an everyday struggle. Every single day I am aware of the fact that I have this illness. But, I've said this since day one, and now it seems to become the new battle cry, "I have MS. MS does not have me." And it's not going to. I exercise every day, I stay on top of my diet. I'm in the process of 'guinea-pigging' myself now for a new book I 'm about to write, about food. You truly are what you eat. I've now been on a six month eating regimen with two different chefs, that has been whole food and raw food chefs, who have been preparing food for me every single day. I'm going to make it simple so that anybody else can do the same thing. It's amazing how good I have been feeling. I've been able to mitigate a few of the symptoms that I have or at least lessen their severity. I think the more I stay with this and the cleaner I get, the better and better I'll be.

PR.com: Do you notice a change in your mental state from eating this way?

Montel Williams: Without a doubt! Mental acuity is… well I have a pretty precise memory. I can sit down and focus on something and memorize it in less then two minutes and walk away.

PR.com: What about your emotional state?

Montel Williams: Emotionally, it has helped my depression, without a doubt. Since I've started this, about a month and a half in, I have noticed that my ebs and flows almost seem to stagnate. There are not big swings. Though I've had a couple of moments, where… you know I suffer from depression. But I've not fallen into what I consider one of my holes since I've started this diet.

Is Montel following a raw vegan diet? No mention if he's consuming animal products.

Good question. I'll sent a letter to his team. Let's see if I hear anything back.

I can attest whole heartadly that a raw food diet is the key to beating the disease. I was diagnosed with ms in 2001 and took no meds....none. I immediately went on a vegan diet and slowly went raw. I lost 70 pounds and severely cleansed. I had no symptoms or progression for 5 years. I then became lax and undisciplened and started eating junk again. Although , I stayed vegetarian, I re- introduced wheat, dairy and sugar. I am now in an episode and developed new symptoms and lesions on my brain. I am now on copaxone which is a disease modifier for ms. I am immediately going back to a raw diet because i know it works better than any interferon or meds.I know so well how to beat the disease with a raw diet that I became a naturopath and coached clients with ms to do the same.
Ironic..isn"t it?? I had one client, who was in a wheelchair, followed my regimen and now walks with a cane. I have also been escorted by hospital security, out of
ms meetings for challangeing the neurologist and drug companies about treating the disease through diet modification. See, the other ms patients knew I was not lying because they used to see me stumble in worse off then them. I tell my clients I am not a quack and if I could eat regular food..I would ..butI can't.Know one enjoys food like me!!!!This is no myth..ms is food dominated..I am living proof.Need more proof..google another fella who beat ms through raw food..matthew grace..he also was in a wheelchair. he , like i, works with others who have been destroyed by this disease. best of luck to all..anyone needs counsceling..e-mail me

Dear Montel,
I have to say that you have given me hope with my condition which is "Myoclonus" with the underlying disease of either or M.S or Parkinsons. This has gone on for along time. It is painful, it robs me of my memory, I am constantly falling and always suffer embarassment. in April 2002 my family and I were hit with an L-5 tornado,in Laplata,Md.
Our home was 100 years old just beautiful. This tornado turned our hopes and dreams and quite a few years of very hard work into dust.. From there I found a home to rent until..this house had snakes, mice, rodents but we had to take it as the rental market had been wipped out. We stayed in that home from 2002 to 2005. A month to the date of the tornado my 17 year old son had a heart attack right in front of me. I just couldnt belive it. I thought it couldnt get any worse...never think that because it did. My son surived that one but he did and still is suffering loss of oxygen and changes have been noticed. My husband nad I saved our money but the market had priced us completely out of our range. We came across a "Premanfactured Home" a polite term for a "Trailer". I put $6,000.00 together and bought it because we absoutely had to have a place to live. Well guesse what, someone has bought the land our from under us for 12 acreas of land they paid $3.9 million dollars in April 2007. During this time and throughout my son suffered one more heart attack. Myself, I put kind of last my M.S. has started to advance with a vengance. I know stress is a negative, but there just doesnt any way around it.
I ask for your help, you advice, or your good humor. I admire you Montel and I am sure you have had your ups and downs in your personal life since your dx.and you seem to still be fighting it. Unfortunately, I dont think with all these problems that I didnt create will probably due me in. Im told thing positive ha-ha. Thats about as positive as it gets for me.
Take Care and I'll keep watching. Pray God to look over you and care for you. You are a leader in this crusade, we need you,
Good Luck,

Hello my name is Robert, I have MS, i am really interested in following a raw food diet. But don't know how to start, what to eat and so forth. I use a crutch to get around, was using a wheel chair in the begining and now a crutch, i still use a wheelchair when i do shopping, but other than that, i would like to be cructh free. I believe in my heart that the Lord Jesus Christ has answered my prayer through a raw food diet. Faith with out works is dead, I have Faith and the works in beating this is a raw food diet. I just need to know what to eat. Thank you so much, May Jesus richly bless you and yours.

Robert I find the Hallelujah Diet easy and helpful because it has easy to use Barleymax. But another supplement I find even more effective is Alkalive green associated with the acid/alkaline diet. You will probably need to purchase the capsule rather than the powder in green supplements due to the obnoxious taste. I actually detoxed with the ph ion supplements and got really wonderful results. It is the first and only detox I've done. I follow the hallelujah diet because I don't feel I need the expensive supplements with this way of eating, plus it is really a whole approach; Physical, mental, spiritual, and really easy to grocery shop. But I have read extensively about the acid/alkaline diet because I think that is the premise of why the raw food diet works. And by all means research wheatgrass, and sprouting seeds.

Nora Lenz

Robert,
Please visit my website for lots of free info, plus www.RawFoodExplained.com.

Bear in mind, raw food doesn't "heal" anything. The body, and only the body, HEALS ITSELF. When we stop eating foods that create inordinate waste in the body, the body is then able to direct its resources to cleaning out stored wastes & toxins and healing the damage they did. Removal of cause is the ONLY way to effectively and properly deal with disease of any kind.

You don't have to learn about wheatgrass and sprouting. They are not necessary and their benefits are highly overrated. Eat fruits, tender green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, in their raw natural state. You can combine them in gourmet raw recipes that will make your transition gentler but you don't even have to do that. You can eat simply if you'd like. How you transition is totally up to you and the more ways you find of keeping yourself satisfied, the greater the likelihood you will succeed. If you don't stay satisfied, you WILL go back to cooked food.

Please contact me through my website if you'd like coaching.

Best wishes,
Nora

I have been living with Multiple Sclersis sence 1995. In the begining, it was my eyesite that would come on and off due to me overexerting myself. That was on and off once in awhile.

Since then I have experianced all the MS relapes anyone dignosed with MS could have. About the diet, I tried eating whole and raw foods for 1 year. It helped and I felt strong. I was even going to my maximum step classes and working out.

Reason for why I went back to my notmal diet of foods that were bennifictial to a person's body(red meat, pultry, seafood, and produce) because it was perfect at a limited amount.

My Multiple Sclerosis was fine and I gave birth to my first son in 2004. 9 months after, I experianced the worst MS relapse ever. It felt as if my legs were burning everytime I took a step.

Taking myself to Highland Hospital ER, I was admitted right away. A Nerolagist gave me an IV for the next 5 days. With the burning feeling gone in my legs, I was finally relased to go home. Within 2 months, my new Nerolagist perscribed me Betaseron 1B.

In my conclusion, I will try Montel's diet in his "Living Well" book. I am curious to see how it will make me feel. Good, I asume.

Today, I am 32 years old and will be 33 in less than 2 months. I weight 105 lbs and stand 4'11". I cannot wait to start this new diet.

Best wishes,
Melissa Gamboa

For the last 3 weeks, I have been on the Mediteranian Living well plan. I get up early and do my AM Yoga and Palities on On Demand. It makes me feel real good. Slowly but surely, my balance is getting better.

I want to thank you Montel, for putting the 'Living Well' book together. It was a reminder of the things I needed to get back to doing to live a fulfilled life with Multiple Sclerosis. I am on Day 19 and will finish the book tonight.

Best regards,
Melissa Gamboa

This message is for Lorraine...
I am in a somewhat similar situation as you...here are a couple possible solutions for you. Contact the manufacturer of the drug that you need and see if they have a program where they provide to individuals who cannot afford the meds. Thats how I got my Copaxone...
Call Shared Solutions and they will help you find this information.
As far as getting married and losing your benefits...yes that sucks I agree and also can't get married...but that doesn't mean that you can't have a wedding...a commitment ceremony of your choice...no one has to know that you didn't file the paperwork after the wedding...and to everyone else you are married...don't let the red-tape define your love...you can still get what you want and be happy and live your life :)
God Bless

I really would like to get in touch with you Charles Tavern! What an inspiration you are! I too am going to be a Naturopathic Physician and going raw has also been one of the key factors to my healing from Multiple Sclerosis! I had the 1st symptoms in 2001, was diagnosed in 2002 and have been medication free since 2003 and doing great! I could use some support from anyone on here who has been diagnosed with MS and are on the raw food path and/or avoiding those "trigger foods". I need help with this occasional cheating (eating allergenic foods like wheat) that I've been doing...sends me backwards, ya know.

Please leave your contact information or e-mail me at
[email protected]

Beck, I also do the Hallelujah Diet...yayy for us!

Ihave just been diagnoticed with MS. I will be starting Copazone soon. I would like to try a raw food diet to see if it will help with my MS. Should I do the diet without taking copazone?

This is Robert again, I want to tell you guys thanks for writing back. I started a Juice diet on 6-29-09, and its really good, real good, and I have to say that i am feeling great. Today i felt my left leg real light, and i feel as if I took the solumedrol shot, but i didnt, i am stopping with all the meds, there all poison to pour body, and i am detoxing also. I am going to beat this MS, but I'm not doing this alone...Christ is here with me, without Christ, I will get nowhere. I want to recommend Lorraine Day, she's an MD who beat breast cancer...look her up please for you to read her story...she's also a Christan.

dear robert, i was on a yoga retreat on the holy isle, off arran in scotland at the weekend and am writing about a course member whose sister has ms. she has had it for around 20 years and has deteriorated a lot in the last 10 years, and her head is flopps forward. i mentioned a raw food diet but she was could believe in it up to a point but felt that it would not be possible to hear her sister as she is too far gone. i would be grateful if you could advise if you think that there is any hope for her sister on the raw food diet. thank you so much for your time.
best wishes

Brent

I was diagnosed with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and decided to do the "green drink" thing because many of the symptoms are the same as MS. I've only been at it for 2 months but there is some improvement... Less IBS pain, skin pain, skin looks better, less Myoclonus and the tachycardia is gone.
I was able to stop taking the beta blocker altogether.
I prayed for guidance and this is what I was guided to.
THANK YOU!

April

I am a believer in the raw diet , just curious, has any one with Ms, stayed on the drugs and went raw , and still noticed improvements?

Kelly

I had an attack in November and another in January and was diagnosed in February this year. I immediately started a 95% (occasional cooked gluten free cracker/cold water salmon) raw vegan diet with no gluten and have been feeling great since (all symptoms have gone including the fatigue). This is the best I have felt in years. I ran a 1/2 marathon this month. Keep in mind that eating raw is just one aspect of a healthy life. Exercise, stress reduction, healthy air and water, meditation, detox, eliminating all chemicals (shampoo, toothpaste, soap etc.) and adequate sleep patterns all play a role. I am on Copaxone but stopped taking it this week. There is a lot of literature online and in book form. Read the pro's and cons and follow your own instincts. Believe in your own ability to heal yourself.

Dear Montel, hI GLAD YOU ARE DOING WELL WITH YOUR (MS). I'VE HAD (MS) SINCE 2008, HIT MY LEGS, TOOK 5 MONTHS TO LEARN HOW TO WALK AGAIN. Been on betaseron since, I take a shot every other day now for the rest of my life, but getting hard to do because my body doesn't heal fast and shots are starting to hurt alot. So writting to you today because my cousin saw you somewhere talking about a food or drink that you take for your (ms) and was working for you, just wondering would you be so kind to tell me what you take for curing your (ms) so I could do the same. Thankyou. David Valetti of Racine Wisconsin.
