Food perspective
The food that we eat, as a world society, has changed more in the last 50 years than it has in the last 5000 years.
Most of the decisions that have led to that change have not been made in the interest of human health, but rather in the fattening of a few pocket books.
Whether you're into raw or not, one thing you can appreciate is that if your dinner table ingredients haven't been chosen on complete-and-total-purpose by you, then most likely they've been chosen on accident by someone else.
this is so true, if we dont decide, someone with out our best interests in mind, will.

Some people say we're crazy to go raw, but it is madness to let habit and social trends dictate what we put into our bodies. I have an ancient body, that I beieve was designed to live in the Earth of milions years ago, not our current plastic wrapped and concrete paved one. The least I can do for myself is to nourish my body with the raw foods it was designed to run on.

Here, here. (that looks funny in print.)
When people mention to me how "extreme" a raw diet is, I usually mention that it's extreme to eat meat three times a day, to put chemicals on and in your body that have never existed on earth before, and to eat "foods" that have been sitting around for years.
It still takes quite a leap for folks to see the logic in this. "Extreme" generally means extreme when compared to what 'everybody else' (they know) is doing.
