Green Smoothies, slowing it down tip

Have you ever made a green smoothie that tasted so good that you could resist the urge to gulp it down? Story of my life.

But here's the thing about green smoothies.... they're totally meant to be sipped and chewed. Yeah, chewed. The faster you gulp them down, the less time your saliva has to mix with the enzymes and start the process of digestion. Chew your juice, drink your food.

So what's a raw foodist to do? Here's a tip courtesy of the Raw Wolfe.

Cayenne Pepper:
Throw 5 to 6 pinches of cayenne (or more if you need) into the blender for every 8 ounce glass of smoothie you're making. Simple as that - it does the trick. Not only will it force you to chew your smoothie, but cayenne also acts as a general antiseptic. It will burn our bacteria and keep your digestive fire up.

I personally don't do this every day, because I'm quite sensitive to cayenne, but you will find cayenne in my green smoothies at least 3 days out of 7. Of course people react differently to everything, so listen to your body and see how much/how often cayenne works for you.
