10 Detox Foods & Recipes!
Here’s a list of some of my favorite super foods! And a few rockin’ recipes for a fabulous Friday!

- Green Leafy Veggies: Are the most nutrient dense of any food. Greens contain chlorophyll which help repair tissue, helps neutralize toxins, neutralizes free radicals, increases the flow of bile, sucks up toxins from the blood stream. And that is just a few of the things they do! Aim for 1 1/2 pounds of greens a day. Work up to it.
- Apples: Apples are high in pectin, which binds to heavy metals and cholesterol. They help flush out toxins and cleanse the digestive system.
- Cranberries: Contain antibiotic and anti viral substances and help remove bacteria and viruses that hang out in the urinary tract.
- Blueberries: Contain a natural aspirin that helps lessen the damaging effects of inflammation. They are also a natural antibiotic and antiviral.
- Beets: Are powerful blood purifiers and liver cleansers. Juice them, shred them, make a borscht soup! Use the tops too!
- Celery: Is an amazing blood cleanser and contains anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Celery also contains natural sodium, potassium and coumarin which studies have shown to be effective in cancer prevention.
- Avocado: Avocados are not only mega nutrient powerhouses, they help dilate blood vessels and lower cholesterol. They contain glutathione that blocks carcinogens and assists the liver detoxify synthetic chemicals. Add a quarter of the awesome avocado to smoothies!
- Lemon: Contain powerful liver detoxifiers. Contain high amounts of Vitamin C
- Garlic: Cleanses harmful bacterial, intestinal parasites and viruses, anticancer, helps cleanse build up in the arteries and the respiratory tract.
- Cabbage: Contains anticancer and antioxidant compounds. Cleanses the digestive tract and assists the liver in detoxification. Cabbage makes a great juice, and is a wonderful addition to salads or soups.

Veggie Power Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups water
- 2 cups kale
- 2 celery stalks
- 1/2 carrot
- 1/2 cup sprouts of choice
- 1-2 tomatoes
- 1/4 avocado
- 1/2 cup parsley
- Dash of black pepper
Directions:
Blend in a high speed blender. Serve immediately. Make 2-3 servings
Spicy Tomato Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 3 cups water
- 1 carrots
- 2 tomatoes
- 1/2 cucumber
- 2 stalks of celery
- 1/4-1/2 avocado
- 1 tbls red onion
- 1/2 clove garlic
- 2 tbls lemon juice
- 1 tsp horseradish, grated, opt
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Pinch cayenne
Directions:
Blend in a high speed blender. Serve immediately. Makes 2-3 servings
Blueberry Dreams
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups water
- 1 stalk celery
- 1/2 apple
- 1/2 avocado
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 frozen, chopped banana
Directions:
Blend in a high speed blender. Serve immediately. Makes 2-3 servings
