Juice Fasting for Healing & Graceful Aging

People have been fasting since the dawn of time. Every religion recommends some kind of fasting for spiritual and healing benefits. Fasting is a wonderful, health enhancing experience with many benefits. There are many ways to fast, from a juice only fast for a day to a 90 day juice fast. Some experts advise never going beyond a 3 day fast and some say several weeks are of great value. 

Fasting with the seasons is the way I prefer. Some people fast one day a week or 2 times a year. Explore what works best for you.

It’s always recommended to take on a few shorter fasts (1-3 days) before attempting a longer fasts (1-3 weeks or more)  Always consult with a doctor before undertaking a fast. Anything longer than a week should be supervised by someone with proper experience. Pregnant or nursing women should not fast.

Periodic fasting has many anti aging effects that will build over time. Some of the benefits of fasting include reducing inflammation, boosting immunity, enhancing tissue regeneration, clear up brain fog, cleanses your body of metabolic wastes and toxins, gives you radiant skin, helps reduce blood pressure and more. 

Fasting can also help to break addictions to emotional eating patterns, addictions or cigarettes and alcohol.


When animals are sick, they naturally rest and fast. They also eat greens. Fasting gives the body a chance to use the energy it would otherwise use for the digestion process for healing. Our ancestors intuitively knew this as well. In our modern society we are able to eat just about any time we want. There are even some who advocate eating small meals 5-6 times a day. Our system rarely gets a break!

Juice fasting is the preferred and most enjoyable forms of fasting in my opinion. Concentrate on vegetables over fruit. Due to the high sugar content, fruit can lead to a blood sugar spike and a candida overgrowth. Use an abundance of greens, cucumbers, celery, cabbage, carrots, beets, zucchini, peppers, cilantro, parsley, lemon, garlic and ginger.


I like to also include some spirulina, Ormus Greens from Sunfood, E3 Live drops, wheat grass juice, warm herbal teas and sometimes a veggie broth made by boiling water and veggies then removing the veggies and drinking the juice (*see recipe below) 

The first few days you may feel hungry but after the second or third day that goes away and you feel energized. I recommend resting or try light exercise like yoga or walking. That being said, I know many people who take on Bikram yoga or PX90 while fasting. Listen to your body and honor where you are and what you feel you need, we’re all coming at this from different places with different bodies and needs. 

As you undertake a fast, set a time frame to start and to end. Begin preparing your body at least a day before you begin by eating lighter food and less of it. Breaking your fast gradually and properly is just as important as the fast itself. Choose water rich foods or steamed veggies foods for the first solid meal.  

Here are a few recipes to get you started on your anti aging juice program. There is no shortage of amazing recipes on the internet so look around to find a few that sound tasty! Just remember to keep them veggie based using fruit at a minimum for a splash of sweetness. Celery and cucumber give more sweetness than you might expect. 


Veggie Broth 

  • 1 gallon of filtered water, add more if needed
  • 2 potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 3-4 celery Stalks
  • 1-2 beets with tops
  • 4-6 cloves garlic
  • 2-4 big handfuls dark leafy greens

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for an hour, strain, drink the broth as desired. You may add any extra veggies you would like.


Youthfully Green Juice

  • 4-5 leaves kale
  • 2-3 stalks celery
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 apple

Process through juicer and enjoy! 



Green Cell Refresher

  • 4-5 chard leaves
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 pear
  • 1/4 bunch cilantro

Process through juicer and enjoy!


 Afternoon Pick Up

  • 3 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 lemon
  • small piece of ginger

Process through juicer and enjoy!

Remember this.....“A quarter of what you eat keeps you alive, the rest of the three quarters keeps your doctor alive.” Chose to care for your body now with a healthy diet, periodic fasts, exercise, awesome relationships,love and joy! If you think it's to expensive or time consuming, just contrast it to co pays, surgery costs and recovery time, not to mention the long waits in the doctors office!
